Cooking, baking, cleaning, eating, drinking... think how often you use your kitchen. So it’s important that you have a good range of essential items to make your mealtimes run smoothly. There are an awful lot of ranges you can buy for a kitchen, but you don’t need to spend a fortune. After all, cheap kitchenware doesn’t always mean poor quality.
Utensils include a multitude of kitchen items, and it really depends what type of cooking you do as to what you will need. Things like spatulas, salt and pepper pots and chopping boards can be found in pretty much every kitchen. But egg cups, corkscrews, bun trays and pizza cutters are all essential items for some households. If you eat at home you need cutlery. Simple as that. So stock up with teaspoons, knives and forks, dessert spoons, steak knives and kids’ cutlery. And don’t forget the extras like your cheese knife, vegetable peeler and a good set of sharp knives.
You will need a number of appliances to make your kitchen complete. Most households like to have a good kettle and toaster at the very least, but you may also use a mixer, microwave, sandwich toaster etc. As with all household products, stick to your own sense of style. There are some really funky coloured utensils and appliances around, so go for bold colours and bright patterns, or stick to neutrals or low key embellishments. Then it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get cooking and baking using all your great new stuff.
