Look at us, world; we're on TV! You heard it here, folks! The spotlight's now cast directly on us as we take centre stage. If your Monday nights feel empty, catch us for episode 1 of 'Saving Poundstretcher', a new three-part series at 9pm on Channel 4.
This fly on the wall series shows retail guru, Chris Edwards, brought in to take a closer look at the inner workings of our company.
Being one of Britain's oldest bargain stores, the public relies on us for exceptional deals, and with 6000 jobs on the line, the stakes have never been higher! Enter Chris Edwards, former owner of Poundworld (before selling it two years ago for a staggering £150 million). Hired as a new CEO by owner Aziz Tayub and his three sons, Chris aims to share his retail experience.
Teaming up with middle-son Shehzad, Chris aims to streamline the range of products, creating conflict with Aziz. And the excitement isn't just in the boardroom!
With over 400 stores, Chris pays a visit to one in Bolton, aiming to tackle all sides of the business. Managed by very dedicated and extraordinary staff, store manager Tracey views her team as a family and goes to great lengths to keep her store open.
We won't spoil too much more for you, as you'll just have to watch and see for yourself. Though, make sure to check out our Twitter and Facebook pages before, during, and after the show and hashtag (#SavingPoundstretcher) your favourite moments. Or why not even see if you can win a sweet £50 gift voucher?!
